It then took a couple of months to get the permitting and inspections sorted out because city rules changed over the past year.

I’m pleased with the result. I just hope all the work to give it tracking pays off.

Take a look at Michael Spencer’s impressive Grid-tied Tracking Ground Mount in Texas!:

“I had general DIY experience, with a degree in mechanical engineering.

I spent many hours searching online for suppliers that had the kit I was looking for. There were a few other supplies, but not with exactly the kit I wanted.

I wanted micro-inverters and needed flexibility in mounting hardware since it wasn’t a standard mount.

The most difficult part of the installation was mounting the solar panel deck with just a lumber A-frame and a chain hoist.

I had one person helping me to get the tower in the ground and mount the deck.

It took a couple of years to finish the frame and get it in the ground. But once that was done, I could order the panel kit, which I installed in a couple of weeks due to weather hold-ups.

I’m pleased with the result. I just hope all the work to give it tracking pays off.”
